Korea Expo Privacy Policy — Korea Expo LA 2026

Korea Expo LA 2026

Korea Expo Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 1, 2026 · Last Updated: September 1, 2026 · Version 2.1

How this policy fits together

This is the general Korea Expo Privacy Policy. Two of our pages also have their own, more specific privacy notice, because what we collect and how we use it is different enough on those pages to deserve their own plain-language explanation: the Visitor Pre-Registration Privacy Policy and the K-POP Dance Blast Contest Application Privacy Policy.

Where one of those page-specific policies says something different from this one on a point that is specific to that page, the page-specific policy applies. Everything else about how we handle personal information across the Korea Expo LA website — including the technologies described in Section 6, our disclosures in Section 7, and your rights in Section 13 — is governed by this policy.

1. Who we are

Exporum, operating as the Korea Expo Organizing Committee (“Korea Expo,” “we,” “us”), organizes Korea Expo LA 2026 (October 22–24, 2026, The Magic Box, Los Angeles, California) together with our co-organizers, export promotion agencies and government sponsors. This policy explains how we handle personal information across our website and in connection with the event generally.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers our website at en.usa.k-expo.org, general browsing and inquiries, our newsletter, and any part of Korea Expo LA not addressed by a page-specific policy. It does not cover our other city sites (Korea Expo Paris, Korea Expo Tokyo) or the Korean-language k-expo.org site, which are subject to local disclosures. It does not replace the Visitor Pre-Registration Privacy Policy or the K-POP Dance Blast Contest Application Privacy Policy, which take precedence for the topics they specifically address.

3. Personal information we collect

Depending on how you use our site, we may collect the following categories of personal information, using the categories defined by California law:

CategoryExamples
IdentifiersName, email address, phone number, IP address, device and cookie identifiers
Protected classification characteristicsGender, where you choose to provide it (visitor registration only)
Commercial informationYour registration and program participation history with Korea Expo
Internet or network activityPages viewed, links clicked, browser and operating system, referring site
Geolocation dataCountry and city you tell us, or that we infer from your IP address — we do not collect precise (GPS-level) location
Audio, electronic, visual informationEvent photography and video, and any video or image you submit to us (for example, a contest performance video)
Professional or employment-related informationVisitor type (general / buyer / press), team representative role in a contest application
InferencesA profile of your likely interests in the event's themes, built from your stated interests and browsing
Sensitive personal informationA prize winner's taxpayer identification number (see the Contest Application Privacy Policy). We do not knowingly collect other sensitive personal information from anyone under 16 — see Section 10

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, precise geolocation, health information, or biometric identifiers, except the taxpayer identification numbers we collect from contest winners as described in the Contest Application Privacy Policy.

4. Where this information comes from

  • Directly from you — when you register, apply, contact us, or sign up for our newsletter.
  • Automatically from your device — through cookies and similar technologies when you browse our site (Section 6).
  • From our co-organizers, exhibitors and event partners — for example, an exhibitor may tell us that you visited their stand.
  • From our service providers — for example, our registration platform or analytics provider.

5. How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Operate, maintain and secure our website
  • Register visitors and administer contest applications (see the page-specific policies for detail)
  • Communicate with you about the event, your registration, or your application
  • Plan the programme and understand attendee interests
  • Produce aggregated, de-identified attendance and demographic statistics for our co-organizers and sponsors
  • Send you marketing about future Korea Expo events, only if you have opted in
  • Detect and prevent fraud, duplicate registrations and abuse
  • Meet our legal, accounting, tax and audit obligations
  • Advertise our events, as described in Section 6

We do not use personal information for any purpose materially different from these without telling you first.

6. Cookies, pixels and similar technologies (Appendix 2 — authoritative source)

This section is the master reference for the tracking technologies used across the Korea Expo LA site, including the Visitor Pre-Registration and Contest Application pages. If we add or remove a tag, we update this table first and then bring the page-specific policies into line with it.

TechnologyProviderWhat it does
Meta Pixel (id 2228545874634149)Meta PlatformsRecords that you visited a page so that we can show event advertising to people likely to be interested. Under California law this is sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Google tag / Google Analytics 4 (G-NPSECTQWNL)GoogleMeasures how many people reach our pages, where they come from, and how they move through the site.
Embedded YouTube playerGoogle / YouTubePlays event and contest video. YouTube may set its own cookies.

When you first visit our site, a banner lets you accept all cookies or reject non-essential ones (analytics and advertising). You can change your choice at any time through the Your Privacy Choices link at the foot of every page, or through your browser's cookie settings. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to register or apply to any programme.

We also recognize the Global Privacy Control and other opt-out preference signals that meet the requirements of 11 CCR §7025 — see Section 8.

7. Who we disclose personal information to

RecipientWhy
Service providers (hosting, registration platform, email/SMS, analytics, IT support)They process personal information on our behalf, under written contracts that restrict them to the purpose we gave the information for
Meta Platforms and GoogleAdvertising and analytics, as described in Section 6 — this is sharing under California law
ExhibitorsOnly where you choose to let one scan your badge — see the Visitor Pre-Registration Privacy Policy
Our co-organizers, export promotion agencies and government sponsorsAggregated, de-identified attendance and demographic reporting
Legal and safety authoritiesWhere the law or legal process requires it, or where necessary to protect the safety of visitors and staff

Sale: we do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Sharing: in the preceding 12 months, we have shared identifiers and internet activity information with Meta Platforms and Google for cross-context behavioral advertising, and — where an exhibitor uses a paid lead-retrieval service — badge information with that exhibitor, which California law treats as a sale. Minors cannot register or apply through our forms at all — see Section 10 — so we have no personal information of a minor to sell or share.

8. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, and Global Privacy Control

You can opt out of the sale and sharing described above at any time, free of charge, with no effect on any registration, application, or anything else you receive from us, through the link, reachable from the footer of every page. Opting out takes no more steps than opting in.

We recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and other opt-out preference signals that meet the requirements of 11 CCR §7025. Where your browser or device sends one, we treat it as a valid opt-out for that browser or device, apply it without asking you to confirm, and show a confirmation on the page. If you are signed in when you send the signal, we apply the opt-out to your account as well. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals, because there is still no agreed technical standard for interpreting them.

9. How long we keep personal information

Retention periods are set out in the page-specific policies for registration and contest data. As a general default across the rest of the site: website analytics data is kept for up to 14 months; newsletter and marketing consent records are kept for 4 years; general inquiry correspondence is kept for up to 2 years; and accounting, tax and subsidy-settlement records are kept for the period required by law. When a period ends, we delete the information or de-identify it so it can no longer be connected to you.

10. Children and minors

We keep minors out of our data collection by design, rather than by screening what we collect afterward.

  • Visitor pre-registration is only open to individuals aged 16 and over, and only that person's own information is entered. Someone aged 0–15 cannot register themselves. An adult registrant may optionally tell us how many children aged 0–15 they are bringing with them — this is a headcount only; we do not collect a child's name, date of birth, contact details, or any other identifying information about them.
  • The K-POP Dance Blast Contest is open to adults only. Every person who appears in a submitted video, every team member, and the representative must be 18 or older. There is no parental-consent pathway for a minor to participate — an application is ineligible if anyone connected with it is under 18.

Because of this, we do not knowingly hold personal information that identifies a specific minor through either of these forms. If we become aware that a minor has nonetheless provided us with their own personal information — for example, by misrepresenting their age — we will delete it promptly. A parent or guardian who believes this has happened can write to expo@k-expo.org.

Minors may still appear, unidentified in the aggregate headcount described above, or incidentally in event photography — see Section 7 of the Visitor Pre-Registration Privacy Policy for how we handle images of anyone under 18.

11. International data transfer

Personal information collected through this site is transmitted to, stored and processed in both the United States and the Republic of Korea, where Korea Expo is organized, and may be accessed by our service providers in other countries where they operate. We require our service providers to protect personal information consistently with this policy wherever they process it.

12. Security

We use technical and organizational measures — including access controls, encryption in transit, and contractual obligations on our service providers — designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you, its source, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to
  • Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to certain legal exceptions
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (Section 8)
  • Limit our use of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the service
  • Non-discrimination — we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a lesser level of service because you exercised any of these rights
  • Designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf

How to submit a request. Submit a , email expo@k-expo.org, or write to the postal address in Section 16. We confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days, which we may extend once by a further 45 days if we tell you why. We action opt-out requests within 15 business days. We may need to verify your identity — typically by matching the information you provide against what we already hold — before acting on a request to know, delete or correct specific information.

Appealing a denied request. If we deny your request to delete, correct, or know your personal information in whole or in part, you may appeal our decision by writing to expo@k-expo.org with the subject line “Privacy Rights Appeal.” We will respond to your appeal within 60 calendar days. If we deny your appeal, you may file a complaint with the California Privacy Protection Agency.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you may complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov) or the California Attorney General (oag.ca.gov).

14. Other U.S. state privacy rights

If you live in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law other than California — for example, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah or Virginia — you may have similar rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of certain processing of your personal information. You can exercise these rights through the same channels described in Section 13, and we will apply the protections your state's law requires.

15. Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever we change what we collect or which technologies run on our site. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where a change materially affects information we already hold about you, we will tell registered users by email before it takes effect.

  • K-POP Dance Blast Contest
